With one of the largest listed defence company market capitalisations in Australia and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fuelled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage.
This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 240 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 5+ years of experience in a production environment preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mechanical, or similar field
  • Experience with Odoo or similar ERP system preferred but not necessary
  • Experience with RF equipment and electronics preferred but not necessary
  • Passionate about technology and ability to understand complex technical problems so issues can be properly communicated to suppliers
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a fast-paced team
  • Respect and appreciation of process, doing the right thing even if no-one is watching
  • Strong ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and handle pressure
  • “Can do” attitude and willingness to help in variety of tasks, including occasional tasks unrelated to the core role
  • Suitable to hold a security clearance if required
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Quality Team is expanding in response to increased production quantities and product complexity. DroneShield is looking to recruit Quality Engineer who will work with the team to ensure DroneShield products are built to a high standard and components received from our suppliers are consistent in quality and performance.
The position will report primarily to the Quality & Safety Manager and will work closely with the Production, NPI, Design and the Operations Team. This role will suit someone with excellent attention to detail and a passion for technology who wants to develop their career in a fast-moving ASX listed defence technology company.

RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Work with the Design Team and NPI Team to put together QC criteria for IQC, IPQC & OQC
  • Review supplier test reports
  • Handling quality issues by raising NCRs, contacting suppliers & implementing CAPA
  • Conduct retro on the production completed batches
  • Communicate issues with product assembly or testing to the relevant stakeholders within the business
  • Conduct NCR reviews & Quarantine reviews
  • Handle deviations as & when required
