Job Summary This role provides engineering and quality support to ensure products meet both customer and internal quality standards while maintaining efficient production flow. You will develop and maintain standard work procedures, collaborate across teams, and focus heavily on welding processes and continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll also assist the QA Manager with APQP, PPAP, and Non-Conformance Management (NCM) activities. Key Responsibilities Process & Continuous Improvement Drive process improvement initiatives, problem resolution, and project management activities Improve manufacturing methods for cost reduction, quality enhancement, and efficiency gains Analyze workflows, equipment layouts, and space utilization to maximize productivity Research and implement new tools, methodologies, and processes Manufacturing & Engineering Support Support production flow, assembly methods, and equipment optimization Coordinate product launches, including training, goal setting, and performance evaluation Evaluate manufacturing processes using knowledge of product design, fabrication, welding, and materials Represent manufacturing on cross-functional teams Quality Assurance & Compliance Ensure compliance with customer and internal quality standards Design and implement testing methods for products and processes Review engineering drawings, operation sheets, inspection procedures, and quality documentation Support QA team in inspection, analysis, and accept/reject decisions Analyze quality data trends and lead defect-reduction initiatives Identify root causes and implement corrective actions (process changes, fixtures, workstation improvements, etc.) Documentation & Standard Work Create, update, and maintain standard work instructions Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure proper tooling and processes Provide visual aids and inspection analysis support Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Production, Engineering, QA, Customer Service, and Purchasing Support analysis of returned field products and internal discrepancies Provide technical guidance across teams Qualifications a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } What You Bring Experience in manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, or similar role Strong understanding of welding processes and steel fabrication Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and root cause analysis methodologies Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and quality documents Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills Continuous improvement mindset (Lean, Six Sigma experience a plus) 🎁 Total Rewards You’ll Love 💸 Annual Bonus Program 📈 Annual Wage Increases ⏱️ $2.50/hour Shift Premium (2nd & 3rd shift) 🎉 11 Paid Holidays + 3 Paid Break Days 🌴 Generous PTO (Vacation & Flex Time) 🏥 Affordable Health Insurance (PPO & HSA options) 😁 Low/No-Cost Dental & Vision Coverage 🛡️ Accident, Critical Illness & Hospital Coverage 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Company-Paid Life Insurance & Disability 💰 401(k) with Company Match + Profit Sharing Why Join SMF?
