JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Quality Engineer to join our team. The primary objective of this role is to manage customer complaints effectively, while reducing the cost of quality across the company including minimizing waste associated with quality in our manufacturing processes.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree in Textile, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, Physical Sciences or similar
  • At least 3 years-experience in regulated Manufacturing Plant.

Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining quality standards for manufacturing processes, materials, products, and systems. This role involves problem-solving, process improvement, customer communication, KPI-reporting and finally ensuring that products meet customer and regulatory requirements. The Quality Engineer works cross-functionally to support continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis for quality issues. The Quality Engineer executes Coats global quality strategy at a site level. To ensure adoption of the SAP-QM tool and manage local specifications. To continually drive down cost of quality through reductions in internal non-conformance and reduction in customer complaints.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Builds an open culture where incidents and near misses are reported and the concerns of employees are listened to. Responsible for the implementation of, and compliance with the relevant country legal, environmental, health and safety, fire, employment laws, regulations, legislations, acts and similar for the Coats Group policies. Help lead sustainability plans.
  • Ensure a fast and professional reception of all customer and commercial queries, making sure that the query is acknowledged and then systematically followed up to a conclusion. Visiting customers where needed and making an audit where required either by our own Quality Management System (QMS) or by the commercial teams. Chair a scheduled call each week where commercial managers can dial in and discuss topical issues that need resolving.
  • Develops and implements quality standards and inspection processes.
  • Conducts root cause analysis and implements corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Creates and maintains documentation such as control plans, FMEAs, PPAPs, and work instructions.
  • Analyzes data from manufacturing, customer complaints, and testing to identify trends and drive improvements.
  • Collaborates with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Lead or supports non-conformance investigations and manages NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports).
  • Assists in the qualification of new products, processes, or suppliers.
  • Drive continuous improvement using tools such as Six Sigma, 5 Whys, and Lean methodologies.
  • Monitor quality metrics and report on KPIs.
  • Make sure that the quality management system is effective in all processes to ensure compliance of the products with the standards and requirements. For example, ensure that all OEKO-TEX certification renewed within the time frame.
  • Establish the SOPs and TDS (Technical Data Sheets) for the Quality department with due reference to H&S policy and legal requirements.
  • Lead Quality Management related Audits (ISO, IATF 16949, QUAKE etc.) together with other related departments managers.
  • Ensure product safety and eliminate risks as far as possible resulting in reduced likelihood of product liability claims as the Product Safety Representative (PSB).
  • Contribute to the continuous development of Coats Group by playing a key part in discussions aimed at making improvements globally – such as Zenith for example.
