Description

DROMONE designs, manufactures and markets agriculture tractor Pick-Up Hitch and construction excavator Quick Coupler technologies. Established in 1978, DROMONE is an industry leading Irish company located in Oldcastle, Co. Meath and employs over 140 people.
We are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer

Key competencies and skills required:

  • Knowledge and application of ISO 9001 standard
  • Experience of APQP/ PPAP systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working background in metals processing/manufacturing
  • Able to program CMM’s – Experience in Portable Measuring Arm(Preferred)
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering/manufacturing drawings (Knowledge of blueprint reading & interpreting detailed drawings)
  • Proven knowledge of micrometers, calipers, digital height gages, go/no-go gages, thread pitch gages, etc. - Basic understanding of a quality systems (QMS), documentation, and implementation to ISO/AS Standards
  • Ability to work closely with operators, machinist, and production supervisors to convey pertinent quality related information
  • Computer literacy in standard windows office and engineering programs
  • Promoting process improvement
  • Good Communication and influencing Skills
  • Ability to work on own Initiative
  • Customer Focus (Internal and External).
  • Bachelors Degree qualification (Engineering/Manufacturing/ Quality) an advantage but not necessary

Responsibilities

QUALITY ENGINEER JOB DUTIES:

  • Liaising directly with OEM Customers and DROMONE’s Supplier base in regard to New Production Introduction & relevant requirements to ensure right first time product.
  • Provide Quality Engineering support to the Purchasing, Quality, Production and Engineering departments when required from Incoming Quality Control to Final Quality Control processes.
  • Provide input and support to company QMS for the Non-Conforming process, and for corrective and Preventive Actions process (CAPA) relating to customer, internal and Supplier issues.
  • Assist with the implementation of plant wide quality system improvements.
  • Carry out internal Quality Audits in line with ISO & customer requirements, and participate in external audits when required
  • Review of warranty related and factory returns from customers and ensuring the returns procedure is being followed.
  • Calibration- ensuring all measuring equipment is correctly calibrated and maintained to required ISO standards.
  • Implementation and review of Quality Processes and Procedures and if necessary proposing modifications or additional procedures in relevant areas e.g. Quality Control Plans.
  • Provide effective and responsive QA support to Operations to meet their area’s objectives of quality, cost and output.
  • Ensure all process variables and their interactions are adequately defined. Ensure all failure modes in process have been identified and addressed. (e.g. Use of FMEA’s).
  • Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing across the site.
  • Aid other departments with quality related queries as required.
  • Implementation and review of Quality Processes and Procedures and if necessary, proposing modifications or additional procedures in relevant areas e.g. Quality Control Plans.
  • Ensuring all plant measuring equipment is correctly calibrated and maintained to required ISO standards and oversee overall compliance in all departments; calling for repairs and carrying out calibration when and where required.
  • Ensuring production staff are adhering to set manufacturing procedures, and records are completed correctly, in assistance with the relevant Production Team Leaders.
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work to relevant departments; validation of re-work on completion.
  • Apply agreed continuous improvement projects and deliver on targets.
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality management system.
  • Adheres to company Safety, Health & Environmental Policies and Procedures.
  • Participate in a weekly quality team meeting with structured agenda and reports and help in the closure of all open NC’s in a timely manner.
  • Provide weekly / monthly Quality related KPI reports e.g. Right First Time, Internal Non-Conformances, Process Escalation Results, Quarantine Control.
  • Develop, progress and maintain the escalation process.
  • Support and develop the role of the Quality and Metrology Technicians.
  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications when required; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Communication off Non-conformance reports to relevant Suppliers and ensuring timely follow up from suppliers on immediate containment actions required.
  • Reports to Quality Manager on daily basis for review of job requirements and feedback on task completion.
