Key Responsibilities Hartzell Engine Technologies seeks a Quality Engineer to support the manufacturing efforts for OE and re-manufactured parts for aerospace applications. The QE is responsible for effective process control of manufacturing processes. Products include turbocharger systems, alternators, cabin heating systems, starters, and fuel pumps. Activities are performed in accordance with FAA regulations. Key Deliverables of Position 1. Create / Maintain Process FMEAs and Control Plans 2. Participate in the creation of work Instructions and co-ordinate training 3. Create / Maintain inspection plans for purchased and manufactured hardware. 4. Participate in Process qualification / PPAP activities 5. Lead activities in Customer Issue Resolution 6. Participate in CAR / SCAR management 7. Review drawing / drawing modifications and flow changes into work instructions 8. Coordinate improvement activities with Supplier Quality & operations 9. Participate in CCB 10. Participate in MRB 11. Monitor & ensure compliance to HET Quality manuals & procedures First Year Success Factors 1. Become conversant in assigned product lines: engineering drawings, work instructions, and Customers. 2. Improve 1 product line relative to FTY & scrap dollars. Requirements Preferred Education and Experience BS Degree in Engineering or 7 years of implementing effective systems in manufacturing environment Required Technical Competencies 1) Excellent verbal and written communication skills 2) Proficient in Quality Engineering, Quality Control and Metrology a. Able to develop manufacturing standards to ensure consistent machining methods b. Able to inspect parts utilizing manual gauging – understand inspection instructions. c. Able to inspect parts utilizing automated inspection methods d. Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T e. Able to apply statistical principles such as SPC, capability studies and histograms. f. Organize, perform, and interpret a Gage R&R 3) Structured problem solving skills to determine root cause a. Ability to develop a plausible root cause and implement effective corrective action. b. Familiarization with the principles of Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc. 4) Knowledge of Manufacturing a. Capability of automated machine tools and inspection methods. b. Metal cutting operations, fixtures, tooling and machining. c. CNC programming and applications. d. Processing of raw materials (casting vs. forgings, etc.) e. Material characteristics (Aluminum, Steel, Elastomers, etc.) 5) Organization skills a. LEAN principles b. Group facilitation c.
