BAE Systems is looking for a Program Quality Engineer II who will be a member of a cross-functional program team. They will contribute to Program performance, verification of product/process conformance and customer satisfaction by providing technical expertise for executing product assurance engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle. This position will consist of assisting the Program Leads in the execution of the Quality Management System Manual and Program Contractual Requirements within the Advanced Electronic Warfare Systems (AEWS) Product Line. Planning, documenting and implementing the Quality Assurance function includes:

  • Applying statistical techniques and continuous improvement tools on process, product, and program performance data.
  • Effective use of metrics and measures, analyzing and reporting program performance information through trend analysis and other tools to provide early warning indicators for the initiation of preventative or corrective actions.
  • Review of program contract requirements to develop/implement an effective quality plan.
  • Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and validation of the Quality Management System in the Business Area site to assure company and contractual quality requirements are satisfied.
  • Support project tailoring, project plan/documentation development, and other activities to establish the project’s execution processes.
  • Provide clear communication and flow down of program quality requirements to all affected disciplines (Engineering, Operations, and Program Management).
  • Provide flow down of contract quality requirements to all subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Supporting source selection and monitoring of critical subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Executes internal audits to verify the conformance of processes in accordance with the Quality Management System.
  • Manufacturing Support for Production Build including Process Review Board, Corrective Action Board and Configuration Control Board participation.
  • Support AS9102 activities including Production Process Verification (PPV)/First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Performance of data review activities to drive continuous improvement/zero defect initiatives.
  • Initiating, facilitating, managing, and validating the effectiveness of root cause analysis, corrective, and preventative actions.
  • Driving Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities through to closure.
  • Responsible to create presentation materials for upper management including reports to Customers and Government representatives.
  • Control of Non-Conforming Materials including leading containment and disposition activities.
  • Material Review Board and Failure Review Board participation.
  • Verification and validation process for the inspection and acceptance of hardware, software, and data deliverables.
  • Documentation / Configuration Analysis and Review.
  • Documentation Preparation for Customer Presentation / Sell Off.
  • Presentation of Product for Customer Acceptance (Sell Off).

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • Typically a Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience
  • A passion for process improvement
  • Well-organized
  • Strong communicator capable of working through complex issues with peers, management and multiple functions
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Ability to mine data and visually display
  • Technical mindset
  • Experience participating in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities
  • Proficient in MS Office Products including Word, Excel, Power Point

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering or similar technical degree
  • Certified L6S Greenbelt
  • Experience with root cause corrective action investigations
  • Experience with electronics manufacturing
  • Proven ability to coordinate a team to drive action
  • Experience with metric trending
  • AS9102/AS9145 experience
