Job Summary The Quality Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company’s Integrated Quality Management System (QMS) across multiple manufacturing facilities. This role focuses on quality system administration, process control, audit support, corrective actions, document control, and compliance with American Institute of Steel Construction certification requirements, ISO quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable welding and fabrication standards.   The Quality Systems Engineer works closely with operations, engineering, production, and quality personnel to ensure processes are standardized, documented, effective, and continuously improved throughout the organization. Main Duties & Responsibilities Quality Management System Support * Assist in maintaining and improving the Integrated QMS across all facilities. * Support compliance with: * AISC Certification requirements * ISO 9001 principles and quality systems * Customer quality requirements * Welding and fabrication standards * Internal company procedures * Maintain controlled procedures, work instructions, forms, and quality records. * Support document control and revision management activities. * Assist with development and implementation of quality policies and procedures. ---------------------------------------- AISC & Compliance Support * Support the Quality Manager with AISC certification activities and audit preparation. * Maintain records related to: * Welder qualifications * Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) * Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) * Material traceability * Inspection and testing documentation * Assist with maintaining compliance to approved welding and fabrication procedures. * Participate in internal audits and certification readiness activities. ---------------------------------------- Corrective Action & Continuous Improvement * Assist in root cause analysis investigations for nonconformances, customer complaints, and process failures. * Support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes. * Track corrective action effectiveness and closure. * Analyze quality data and trends to identify improvement opportunities. * Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. ---------------------------------------- Audits & Documentation * Participate in internal audits, supplier audits, customer audits, and third-party inspections. * Maintain audit records and follow-up actions. * Ensure quality records are accurate, organized, and retained per company requirements. * Assist departments with implementation of quality system requirements. ---------------------------------------- Quality Engineering & Process Support * Support development of inspection plans, checklists, and quality standards. * Assist production and engineering teams with quality-related technical issues. * Review drawings, specifications, and customer requirements for quality impacts. * Assist with implementation of process controls and standardization activities. * Support calibration management systems for inspection and measurement equipment. ---------------------------------------- Reporting & Metrics * Support maintenance of quality performance metrics and reports. * Track KPIs related to: * Defects * Rework * Scrap * Customer complaints * Audit findings * Corrective actions * Support preparation of reports for management review meetings. Qualifications & Skills Education * Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Welding, or related technical field preferred. * Equivalent experience may be considered. ---------------------------------------- Experience * Minimum 3–5 years of experience in quality systems, manufacturing quality, or quality engineering. * Experience in: * Structural steel fabrication * Modular manufacturing * Heavy industrial fabrication * Welding/fabrication environments preferred * Experience with quality management systems and audits preferred. * Experience with AISC certification requirements preferred. Working knowledge of: * Quality Management Systems (QMS) * ISO 9001 principles * Structural steel fabrication processes * Welding processes and inspection methods * Blueprint and specification interpretation * Root cause analysis methodologies * Corrective action systems * Manufacturing process controls * Document control systems Preferred qualifications: * Internal Auditor training * Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) exposure or training * Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma training * Experience with ERP/MRP systems and quality software
