JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Quality Engineer to join our team. The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Uni-Fab’s nuclear Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with CSA N299.3:19. This role will ensure that all nuclear projects meet required quality, safety, documentation, and tracability standards while integrating processes into existing shop operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma or Degree in Quality, Engineering or related technical discipline is required.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a regulated industry (nuclear preferred; aerospace/defense considered).
  • Knowledge of CSA N299.3:19 or similar nuclear/regulated standards is required.
  • Understanding of welding standards (ASME, CWB) and NDE methods will be an asset.
  • Experience with supplier qualifications, quality audits, and corrective actions will be needed.
  • Must have strong documentation control and process management skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain nuclear QMS processes and documentation to CSA N299.3:19.
  • Perform gap analysis against current processes and close compliance gaps.
  • Maintain control and revision of nuclear quality documents.
  • Work with Project Management to align quality deliverables with project milestones.
  • Collaborate with the Weld team to ensure welding-related procedures and records meet nuclear requirements.
  • Ensure nuclear quality requirements are embedded into operational workflows.
  • Establish and manage inspection/test plans, including hold and witness points.
  • Ensure full material tracability from procurement to delivery.
  • Approve final quality documentation packages before client submission.
  • Manage nuclear supplier qualifications processes.
  • Verify material certifications and compliance to nuclear requirements.
  • Maintain approved supplier lists for nuclear projects.
  • Deliver nuclear quality training for employees involved in the program.
  • Maintain qualification and training records for nuclear personnel.
  • Conduct internal and external audits for compliance.
  • Lead noncomforance investigations and develop corrective action plans.
  • Recommend process improvements for efficiency and compliance.
  • Suspend work on any nuclear project activity that does not meet CSA N299.3:19 requirements or approved quality procedures.
  • Approve or reject nuclear quality documents and inspection records.
  • Escalate unresolved compliance issues to senior leadership.
