Description It is the responsibility of the Quality Engineer to understand and implement the principles of our Company’s product and service quality assurance program, quality evaluation and control. This person is expected to work with various departments on quality assurance projects. This person will also be a key player in two critical areas of the quality chain - Corrective Action follow through and Schroeder's Continuous Improvement efforts. Responsible for recommending improvements to increase the quality of our products. Duties and Responsibilities Develops, applies, and maintains quality requirements and standards for development and manufacturing products while observing ASQ Code of Ethics for Professional Conduct. Assists department supervisors and managers as a resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement. Supports concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing Quality Assurance and the customer. Assists Quality Manager with contract manufacturing (e.g. government contracts.) Designs, documents and implements methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection. Manages Non-conforming material internally and from suppliers by tracking and reporting rejected material to Purchasing and Production Teams. Coordinates with Purchasing and Production Teams on appropriate disposition for rejected material. Participates as either a lead or team auditor in internal and external quality audits. As a lead auditor, coordinates internal audit schedule, issues audit plan, checklists before audit date and sends audit reports after audits to the Quality Manager, Dept. Manager and President of the Company. Assists Quality Manager in maintaining ISO certification for the Company. Work on various continuous improvement projects, bother inter-department and within other departments, relating to quality assurance and incoming inspection in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 standard. Maintains QA/QC data within SAP ERP system. Operates CMM equipment to perform measurement, inspection, and testing of production materials and sample components. Completes customer requested PPAP’s following advanced product quality planning (APQP) framework. Coordinates on-site calibration of company’s measuring equipment with 3rd party calibration laboratory and keep internal records in database up to date. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering or equivalent is required. Minimum of one to three years’ QA / QC experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current CQE (Certified Quality Engineer), CQA (Certified Quality Auditor) or similar professional certification within two (2) years of hire is required. Skills and Abilities Knowledge of ERP software, spreadsheet software and word processing software; SAP experience is a plus. Other Requirements: Possesses knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques and documentation. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally when required.
