POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving all aspects of the company’s quality system in compliance with AS9100 standards and customer requirements. This role works closely with the Quality Manager, machine shop personnel, and customers to ensure that all products meet stringent aerospace quality standards from first article to final inspection.

Responsibilities
  • Quality System Support:

Maintain and support AS9100-compliant quality management systems (QMS), including internal audits, documentation, and process improvements.

  • Inspection & Testing:

Assist with or lead First Article Inspections (FAIs) per AS9100, in-process inspections, and final inspections to ensure product conformity using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMM, etc.).

  • Nonconformance & Corrective Action:

Investigate and document nonconformances, lead root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) using tools such as 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams.

  • Supplier Quality:

Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, participate in supplier audits, and manage incoming inspection processes.

  • Customer Interface:

Support communication with aerospace customers on quality-related matters, including responding to quality notices, submitting FAI packages, and addressing audit findings.

  • Process Control & Improvement:

Collaborate with machinists, programmers, and leadership to improve process control, reduce scrap, and enhance overall quality performance.

  • Training & Compliance:

Train and guide shop personnel on quality standards, inspection techniques, and documentation requirements. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and customer-specific requirements.
