Description

UDC USA Inc, a manufacturer of small, medium and large caliber ammunition, is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Marshall, Texas division. Background check and Letter of Clearance for the ATF to handle explosive materials will be required for this position. Drug screen required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, or related field – Preferred.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE SKILLS OR ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • The ideal candidate will have experience with government contracts, Lot acceptance processing, and knowledge of Military standards relating to product quality acceptance.
  • Strong knowledge of US government contract work, experience in proposal writing, with experience in new contract implementation and execution.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Assurance, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a quality engineering role (industry-specific preferred).
  • Proficiency in quality tools such as Six Sigma, 8D, FMEA, and SPC.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (FDA, GMP, etc., if applicable).
  • Hands-on experience with quality inspection equipment and methods.
  • Develops and implements statistical methods that support process control, process / product improvement associated with UDC USA manufacturing product lines.
  • Initiate process quality improvements that increase field performance reliability, increase manufacturing efficiencies, reduce costs, simplify processes and improve overall product quality on finished goods
  • Develop and implement methods to ensure effective root cause analysis, track implementation of these corrective actions.
  • Champion quality teams by organizing planned team meetings and present performance history and related internal / external quality issues.
  • Understand product quality testing for all manufactured products in Marshall, Tx, the methodology related to proper use of testing equipment. Assist quality assurance inspectors engaged in measuring and testing of products, tabulate required inspection data related to materials, product, process quality and reliability. Support product testing as needed, vacation coverage and any overtime needs.
  • Manage the “Risk Mitigation” program working closely with departments. Generate a visual display spreadsheet and author updates. Information presented to executive level.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) for nonconformities.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to improve quality processes.
  • Perform internal and supplier audits to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Analyze data from quality reports and tests to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in the development of inspection criteria and test procedures for products and processes.
  • Oversee calibration and maintenance of testing and inspection equipment.
  • Create and maintain quality documentation, including FMEAs, control plans, and PPAPs.
  • Support new product development with quality input during design and launch phases.
  • Train staff in quality control procedures and best practices.

Follow work instructions as job directs. Interpret engineering drawings and diagrams, while recognizing deviations, using diagnostic equipment. Maintain inspection and compliance of precision measuring equipment. Follow all safety guidelines.

Support QC Manager
Work subordinately with the QC Manager reporting nonconformance and offering suggestions for improving operational efficiency and production. Assist with implementation in any new developments as directed by QC Supervisor.
Cost Control - Quality
Minimize non-quality events, manage perishables, monitor time management issues and Maximize efficiency.
