SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining the manufacturing performance targets by identifying areas of process or quality output concerns and by participating in quality investigations and resolution activities. The incumbent will provide strategic and tactical leadership in the development and implementation of quality policies, programs, and procedures in support of our goals and objectives.
The incumbent is also responsible for the Supplier Quality Program to ensure that tank cars released from the manufacturing facilities meet regulatory and customer requirements.
The incumbent works to ensure that their work always meets internal and external customer expectations by fully applying himself/herself to the tasks involved, preventing errors, and implementing personal and departmental quality improvement projects. In addition, the incumbent is required to understand the Responsible Care Management System and actively participate in activities outlined therein.

SKILLS/SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent communication skills which include technical writing, presentations, and listening skills
  • Ability to investigate, derive conclusions from observations/data and analytically approach corrective action
  • Confidence, patience, tact, and diplomacy, when dealing with difficult situations and various personalities
  • Ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize work and manage time effectively
  • Always convey a high level of professionalism
  • Detailed minded and can work independently
  • Ability to understand various company policies and ensure compliance

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical or industrial)
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing quality leadership position
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and other quality management tools and applications
  • Intermediate Microsoft 365 skills
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing supplier development programsMust be able to travel 50
  • -60% of the time.

  • Ensures company product meets all regulatory and customer requirements
  • Actively implements and trains employees in accordance with the company’s Quality procedures and works with engineers to develop life cycle maintenance procedures. Enforces compliance to all published work rules
  • Negotiates problems between Production and Quality Control personnel to ensure specifications are adhered to
  • Develops, manages, and administers training programs as needed for the Manufacturing Quality Control Inspectors and Production personnel.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains SPC
  • Develops, implements, and maintains supplier quality program
  • Participates in and actively supports Quality projects and activities and Responsible Care initiatives to ensure that the Company achieves its goals
