Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, Quality and Patient Safety, the Quality Improvement Specialist has a keen interest and demonstrated experience in supporting quality improvement and patient safety activities. This role will be responsible for supporting corporate initiatives to minimize harm to the patient; conducting daily surveillance on patient safety incidents, supporting root cause analysis for specific patient safety incidents and care trends while assisting managers and teams. Assisting with the patient safety incident reviews through coordinating processes of conducting the quality of care reviews, The Specialist will support with the planning and implementation of any Accreditation-related activities and support programs with their work for Accreditation along with raising awareness and understanding of accreditation and its alignment with Osler’s strategic plan. The Specialist will support in leading engagement activities with frontlines members to support knowledge translation related accreditation and patient safety incident management. The Specialist will collaborate closely with quality improvement consultants to execute quality improvement projects and initiatives providing data analysis, project management support and contributes supporting a corporate continuous performance improvement culture resulting in enhanced quality care, patient safety and a positive patient experience.
The successful candidate will actively maintain various systems databases and online applications that assist in patient safety incident management activities (e.g. the incident reporting system, the repository of critical and non-critical incidents data bases). The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong relationship-building skills and have an ability to prioritize and support multiple projects simultaneously.
