JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Quality Inspector FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt
REPORTS TO: Manager, Quality (Manufacturing) or Supervisor, Quality

SUMMARY

This is generally routine, repetitive, but diversified work, involving the visual, manual, and instrument checking of a variety of molded and assembled plastic parts, to assure conformance to customer dimensional, visual, and physical effort standards. Work involves use of various measuring instruments to check dimensional qualities; visual acuity to assure conformance to appearance standards; use of physical test instruments to assure conformance with effort standards. Minor judgment is involved in some areas based on general knowledge of Statistical Process Control, sampling techniques, and departmental standards. Good color judgment is a requirement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be capable of walking and pushing a cart for the entire shift.
  • Repeated bending and lifting throughout the shift.
  • Hand / eye coordination and manual dexterity to use measuring devices and build verification parts.
  • Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: (Check those that apply.)

  • Inspects and verifies dimensional, appearance, and effort qualities of various plastics, molded parts, and assembled parts, including color.
  • Sets up and uses various test instruments to determine compliance with company quality standards.
  • Reads and reviews blueprints to determine compliance with customer and company standards.
  • Labels, rejects, accepts or places holds on parts and material that are acceptable/unacceptable.
  • Brings unacceptable material, parts and assemblies to the attention of workers and supervision, so corrective action can be taken.
  • Visually examines material, parts, and assemblies to verify compliance with customer and company standards of appearance.
  • Manually checks assembled parts to assure proper functioning in accordance with customer and company standards.
  • Works as a team player on the floor and in problem solving meetings.
  • Performs as an Auditor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Possesses the ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices. Must have ability to follow oral and written direction and work independently in accord with standard procedures.

  • A minimum score of 50 on the Wonderlic Select Assessment (Traditional score of 16 on the cognitive portion).

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position typically does not require any travel.
