MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5–7 years of experience in test and inspection within a manufacturing or production environment with tight-tolerance mechanical components (aerospace/defense experience preferred)
  • Experience in quality and source inspection on machined/mechanical components using GD&T, CMM, optical, and other mechanical measuring instruments
  • Experience programming CMMs for various mechanical components
  • Experience creating inspection plans for machined/mechanical components, applying GD&T knowledge to determine the most accurate, repeatable, and efficient measurement methods
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 / AS9100 standards, AQL, sampling methods, and traceability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with personnel at all levels, including vendors, suppliers, and customers
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office, with experience using relevant systems and programs
  • Must be a U.S. citizen

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus; must pass vision screening
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create inspection plans to ensure all drawing and print requirements are measured
  • Inspect products using gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), scales, and vision systems prior to acceptance or shipment
  • Perform inspections with calipers, radius gauges, single-axis laser scanners, comparators, and measurement machines
  • Conduct mechanical measurements and visual quality assessments of received items, work-in-progress, and finished goods
  • Document defects through NCRs or defect notes for unacceptable products
  • Prepare data packages or generate spreadsheets for data collection
  • Reconcile final inspection documentation for shipments
  • Interact with customer or government source inspectors
  • Read, interpret, and apply blueprints, drawings, schematics, and GD&T standards
  • Approve incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products by verifying specifications and conducting visual and measurement tests
  • Communicate required adjustments to production supervisors when necessary
  • Document inspection results, summarize rework and waste, and input data into quality databases
  • Ensure measurement equipment is operational and properly calibrated; manage repairs as needed
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, and others to resolve inspection issues and meet goals/KPIs
  • Assist with training new hires and existing employees as needed

  • Complete initiatives and activities through effective interaction with internal and external personnel
  • Maintain professional relationships with Business Development, Engineering, Operations, and Customer Service teams
  • Comply with safety, quality, and company policies to meet regulatory and internal system requirements

  • Participate in team meetings and improvement initiatives, providing constructive recommendations
  • Keep management informed of area activities and significant issues
