We are looking to add an additional Quality Inspector Level II to our Quality Department at our Zelienople, PA facility. This team member will be assigned inspection procedures such as dye penetrant, ultrasonic, radiographic, visual, and magnetic particle tests. They will perform dimension checks of stationary and rotating parts. They will clean up welds and perform visual weld inspections for all welded parts. This position will report directly to the Quality Manager.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • This position requires a certification in Magnetic Particle Testing, Liquid Penetrant Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Radiographical Testing as well as Visual Welding Inspection.
  • Knowledge of or experience in welding processes required.
  • This position requires the ability to follow specific inspection procedures utilizing related test and inspection equipment such as magnetic particle, ultrasonic, dye penetrant, x-ray equipment, etc. and to evaluate test results.
  • This position requires the ability as well as the manual dexterity to operate test and inspection equipment and to perform production activities in the assembly area.
  • This position requires the ability to read drawings.
  • This position requires the ability to climb on ladders, scaffolds, and tables.
  • This position requires a High School diploma or GED.
  • This position requires 3 years of experience in quality assurance.
  • Willingness to travel for production inspections.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs

Responsibilities
  • Receive job assignments and instructions from the QA Manager or from the Sr. QC Inspector.
  • Set-up inspection units, as required, including units for pressure tests for leak testing.
  • Perform other specific inspection procedures as qualified and as directed.
  • Check shafts and other machined items for tolerance, using micrometers, etc.
  • Operate x-ray equipment and develop film.
  • View x-ray negatives of weld joints per industrial code specifications.
  • Complete an inspection checklist for every job inspected.
  • Inspect fans before shipping to vendors for special coating and check finished job upon return.
  • Strive to achieve CWI certification.
  • Attend seminars to broaden knowledge of inspection requirements, equipment, and procedures.
  • Set up and operate various production equipment and units as required.
  • Perform other production duties as required.
  • Perform or direct the fitting of wheels and shafts, ready for fitting, including the checking of shaft tolerances, finishes, dimensions, etc., as required.
  • Perform or assist with welding inspections of wheels at various stages of fabrication.
  • Spot check or assist in spot checking weld inspections and fit-up of casings in various stages of fabrication.
  • Observe nondestructive test procedures in the shop and report any deviation from established procedures.
  • Checks wheels for straightness tolerances and that all necessary inspections are being performed, as required.
  • Check cleaning, fitting, and shipping preparation for proper procedure.
  • Check paint thickness and quality, as required.
  • Ensure that all required inspections have been performed and that the fan is available for customer inspection, when required.
  • Follow up on travelers, making certain that all appropriate notations have been made and that the final Quality Control approval has been indicated.
  • Accompany customers, as directed, when the customer’s order requires plant inspection.
  • Attend production-scheduling meetings as required.
