POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Lab Specialist to join our dynamic team. The incumbent is responsible for conducting laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process production, and finished products, while ensuring results meet internal and customer requirements. This role also involves maintaining laboratory equipment, analyzing test data, supporting root cause investigations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement. The Quality Lab Specialist ensures the highest level of product quality, integrity, and customer satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field (preferred) OR equivalent technical experience.
· 2+ years of experience in a quality laboratory, testing environment, or manufacturing quality role (automotive industry preferred).
· Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
· Attention to detail and a strong focus on quality management.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally.
· Strong knowledge of laboratory testing methods, equipment, and quality control processes.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· 1–2 years’ experience in quality management, laboratory testing, or related field.
· Knowledge of ISO 9001/14001, IATF 16949, MSA (Gauge R&R), PPAP, SPC, GD&T, and process capability requirements.
· Certifications in quality management (ISO, IATF, ASQ) are desirable.
· Understanding of quality management systems in the automotive industry.
· Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.

SALARY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION IS BETWEEN $50,000 – $60,000, DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE.

Responsibilities

· Perform laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products, including tensile, adhesion, peel test, dimensional, heat aging, melt index, moisture, and 3D scan/analysis tests etc.
· Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as tensile testers, viscometers, environmental chambers, and 3D measurement tools.
· Record, analyze, and report test results in compliance with ISO/IATF 16949 standards and customer requirements.
· Support quality and production teams by investigating nonconforming materials and assisting with root cause analysis.
· Develop and maintain laboratory procedures, calibration schedules, and test standards to ensure accuracy and repeatability.
· Generate technical reports to support customer submissions including PPAP, IMDS, and validation testing documentation.
· Provide technical support and guidance on lab procedures, quality standards, and testing methods.
· Collaborate with engineering, production, and supplier teams to resolve issues and improve incoming and outgoing material quality.
· Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for lab-related quality issues.
· Promote and sustain a strong culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
· Participate in cost reduction and scrap minimization initiatives through improved testing processes.
· Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements in all laboratory operations.
