Description

The primary role of the Quality Lead is to manage the quality department and the quality engineering requirements within the business. The Quality Lead will be required to offer expert knowledge in all aspects of quality and more specifically welding.
Some of the main duties include but not limited to:
To conduct engineering reviews of drawings and scopes as part of tender decisions and complete the technical reviews
To conduct engineering reviews of drawings and scopes following contract award and complete the technical reviews
To develop quality plans and inspection and test plans
Assign the correct WPSs to work packs, ensuring we have the correct competencies and resources to complete the work
To develop work instructions where required to detail any special requirements in the welding procedure specification (e.g. prevention of distortion), joint preparation, fit-ups, etc.
Ensure compliance to EN 9001, BS EN 1090 and ISO 3834-2 and other relevant standards
Effective implementation and verification of fabrication and construction inspection and testing activities
To develop and manage all PQR’s and WPS’s
To manage the welder’s qualifications and prolongation including the WeldNote Software, welder tests, and involve 3rd party inspections
To assist the Assurance Manager to develop the team and improve their skills and qualifications
Develop and deliver internal training to help improve quality processes and practices
To manage the non-conformances within the business, including the register, action management and investigating quality related non-conformances
To raise NCR reports, to carry out root cause analysis and implement any corrective and preventative actions from the analysis
To schedule, monitor and carry out supplier audits and internal audits
To help develop and maintain a suitable management system and procedures. Implement improvements and continually develop the system
Gathering objective evidence to support weekly / monthly quality report and update the Quality Dashboard
To ensure Worley Quality Performance targets and goals are achieved, including weld repair rates, KPI’s, etc.
Implement improvement measures where failings or missed KPI’s are identified
Active involvement in client meetings, quality review meetings and tender review meetings
To Strengthen and coach quality personnel to support development, management and administration of quality management systems
Ensure that the customer’s quality management requirements and specifications are being identified and managed by the Project Team effectively.

Any other tasks deemed appropriate by the business and within competence skills of the individual
QC Senior Inspector, QC Inspectors, Workshop Managers, Workshop Supervision, Resource coordinators, HR Advisors, Project Managers, HSE Department, Stores Team
Works with the Assurance Manager, Resource Coordinators and HR on search, selection and recruitment of additional Quality resource.
Outcomes / Accountabilities
Lead by example and ensure that all procedures are complied with.
Work collaboratively with the HSE team to ensure new initiatives are implemented effectively.
Actively promote the Worley safety culture.
To ensure best practice and where possible the most cost-efficient use of resource.
To develop in the in-house inspection capability to reduce costs and times for NDE/ NDT.
To ensure the Quality team plan their workload in conjunction with all ongoing projects so support on time completions.
To ensure non-conformances and audit actions are closed out in a timely manner.
To ensure welder qualifications are completed in a timely manner
To ensure new PQR’s are performed in a timely manner to support the fabrication needs.
