Job Responsibilities: Scope of Position Plans, coordinates and directs the quality department to ensure quality on new and existing products and technology development are consistent with established standards. Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product. Formulates and maintains quality control objectives and coordinates objectives with production procedures. Plans, promotes and organizes training activities related to product quality and reliability. Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality. Develop, implement and maintain policies for quality programs. Ensure all products and processes conform to documented requirements. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Technical or Engineering field, plus six year’s experience in the field of quality, or equivalent Education in Statistical Process Control Seven (7) years’ supervisory experience Work experience in a mass production automotive environment preferred Understanding of PFMEA, FMEA, blueprint reading, GD&T, design of experiments (DOE), Control Plans Ability to communicate and interact well with people in all departments Good leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills Complete knowledge of automotive APQP/PPAP processes Have good verbal & written communication skills Have a command of problem-solving techniques such as Ford 8-D, GM 5-Phase methods, etc. Significant knowledge of IATF 16949. Good computer skills Statistical abilities, & understanding of gage R&R’s, capability studies Job Specific Responsibilities Develop strategic short and long term quality business plan Accountable for the development and maintenance of strong customer relations Champion of the company’s quality system in demonstrating and documenting conformance to customer requirements Ensure products meet both the customer and company specifications Evaluate process capability together with the Manufacturing and Engineering departments Ensure the use of capable processes for manufacturing of products Ensure operating practices are correctly matched with production and customer requirements Participate in the evaluation of the design of new products for testability and reliability Actively participate in DFME, FMEA, and PFME as required Create and maintain Quality department annual budget Supervise Quality Team department staff, setting out schedules, maintaining departmental training and conducting annual performance reviews Assist in establishing process capabilities Conduct validation testing Submit ISIR samples for customer approval Training and development of Quality Assurance department staff Participate in the selection and audits of potential vendors and suppliers Act as liaison between customer and the company Prepare and conduct customer surveys Coordinate and maintain QI status Responsible to protect own health and safety by working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures Reject and release internal production in order to meet quality specifications Reject or accept supply of components from supplier in order to meet quality specifications Acceptance of customer rejects and disposition in regard to quality specifications Reject or release customer sample submissions Establish procedures and standards in regard to Quality department Support the recruiting process as required Support supplier development initiatives Maintain CI focus in achieving departmental CI goals Resolving ‘meeting specification’ problems in the manufacturing area Resolving manufacturing problems by disposition non-conforming material Resolving quality problems by implementing corrective action Accountable for the maintenance of departmental operating measures Travel is required Ensure all legislative requirements of OSHA are met.
