Description
Description The Quality Manager is responsible for ownership, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company’s Quality Management System. This role serves as the primary authority for ISO 9001 and UL compliance and provides hands-on leadership across quality assurance, inspection, testing, documentation, supplier quality, and corrective action activities. Given the organization’s lean structure, this position is both strategic and operational, working directly with Operations, Engineering, Production, and Service to stabilize processes, improve consistency, and reduce quality-related risk. The Quality Manager works closely with the Operations Manager and production leadership team. In the absence of dedicated training or safety management roles, this position is expected to provide guidance, structure, and support in these areas as they relate to quality, compliance, and process control. Own and maintain the Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and UL requirements. Serve as the primary point of contact for all external and internal audits, including preparation, execution, corrective actions, and follow-up. Establish, document, and enforce standard operating procedures that support consistent production and inspection practices. Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions using structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5 Whys, Six Sigma, etc.). Oversee inspection, testing, and verification activities across receiving, in-process, and final inspection. Support production teams by identifying quality risks, process gaps, and training needs. Develop and deliver quality-related training to production leads and new employees. Partner with Operations to improve production control, workflow discipline, and process consistency. Manage supplier quality performance, including SCARs, audits, and ongoing improvement efforts. Analyze customer complaints and field failures in coordination with Service and Engineering. Create, maintain, and control quality documentation including manuals, procedures, records, and reports. Track and report quality metrics, objectives, and trends to leadership. Continuously improve quality systems and processes. This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Duties and priorities may evolve based on organizational needs. Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and audit processes. Experience in a manufacturing environment with direct shop-floor involvement. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Self-directed, resilient, and comfortable managing multiple priorities. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong computer skills including use of MS Office, and ability to develop efficiency with proprietary Epicor software Ability to work and communicate across various departments and positions within the organization Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal formats Ability to identify, through both observation and conversation, key requirements needed to streamline processes
