ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

A candidate must, on the latest date for receiving completed applications for the post

  • An academic award in Healthcare Risk Management or Healthcare Quality Management at level 8 (or higher) on the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) or equivalent OR
  • A professional qualification in a health-related area. OR
  • Demonstrated expertise in a comparable position and open to additional training if necessary. AND
  • A background in Clinical/Healthcare setting in a post that has involved quality and risk management as relevant to this role. AND
  • Minimum of five years proven experience in Quality and/or Risk.

POST SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience of leading change in a complex organisation.
  • A proven track record in driving Continuous Improvement programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Able to work equally well as part of a team or independently.
  • A strong working knowledge of quality standards such as CHKS, ISO, HIQA, and quality systems.
  • Significant track record of achievement working in the public health sector.
  • Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience working with multiple internal and external stakeholders as relevant to the role.
  • Working knowledge of Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards as they apply to the role (e.g., Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene Standards) and compliance with relevant HSE protocols.
  • Commitment to maintaining the primacy of the patient in all hospital activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS NOTED BELOW ARE DESIRABLE, BUT CANDIDATES WHO POSSESS THEM MAY BE GIVEN HIGHER PRIORITY DURING SHORTLISTING.

  • Master’s degree in quality and safety.
  • Experience at leading or participating in an organisation wide accreditation or other quality standard system.
Responsibilities

The Quality & Risk Manager, Clerical Officer Grade VII, will play a key leadership role in promoting and sustaining a culture of continuous quality improvement and patient safety at Marymount University Hospital & Hospice. The post holder will be responsible for implementing best practices in quality and risk management, aligned with the National Standards for Safer, Better Healthcare, to enhance patient care and service delivery.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the role involves leading quality initiatives, managing risk proactively, and supporting staff engagement in quality and safety initiatives. Central to the role is ensuring that patients and their families remain at the heart of all quality and risk management efforts.
