Position Summary – Quality Specialist The Quality Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining compliance with the AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) in a precision sheet metal and machining manufacturing environment serving aerospace and defense customers. This role ensures products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements through inspection, documentation control, audit support, and continuous improvement initiatives.  Responsibilities:  • Maintain compliance with AS9100 Rev D requirements.  • Support internal and external audits (customer, registrar, NADCAP if applicable).  • Assist in document control activities (procedures, work instructions, forms, revisions).  • Review and flow down customer-specific requirements. • Assist with supplier evaluations and performance monitoring.  • Administer and monitor corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes.  • Generate and process Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).  • Coordinate disposition of nonconforming material (use-as-is, rework, scrap). • Support root cause analysis and brainstorming sessions.  • Track quality metrics and KPIs (PPM, OTD impact, scrap, rework, NCR trends).  • Verify certifications (material certs, plating certs, special process certs).  • Ensure proper calibration status of inspection equipment. • And other duties as assigned based on business needs.  Required Skills and Experience  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (basic level), and manufacturing documentation.  • Working knowledge of aerospace industry standards is a plus.  • Basic understanding of dimensional inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).  • Effective communication across production, engineering, and customers.  • Understanding of aerospace materials and special processes.  • Attention to detail and strong observational skills.  • Proficient in using Office and Windows based software.  Education and Experience  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.  • Minimum 2 years of experience in quality inspection, preferably in an aerospace environment.  • Experience in a sheet metal or machine shop environment is highly desirable.  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality management systems.  Work Environment  • Manufacturing floor environment, standing/walking for extended periods.  • Exposure to noise, dust, metal shavings, and occasional sharp objects. • May require use of PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.  Physical Demands  • Stand continuously and lift objects up to 30lbs  • Good vision (corrected or uncorrected) for visual inspection tasks, including color differentiation.  EEO Statement  Company provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
