Description The 2nd Shift QC Tech 2 is responsible for performing all the tasks of a Quality Technician I when required but primarily to test and process incoming raw materials, in-process and finished mixes, and finished products to ensure that regulatory requirements and internal and external customer quality requirements are met prior to release. Additionally, this position is responsible for preparing and submitting micro samples, reviewing labels and production documentation for accuracy, communication, and documentation of quality requirements and recording of evaluation results, calculating fill weight specification, identifying and holding nonconforming products, and providing technical support in resolving problems and improving processes. The successful person in this position will possess the ability to work across organizational levels in a professional manner, with a sense of urgency, and demonstrate exceptional organizational and customer service skills. This position requires the ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and as part of a team. This role reports to the Quality Supervisor. Required Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to provide proof of identity and authorization to work in the U.S.; Ability to effectively communicate (speak, read, and write) in English. Four-year degree in a technical discipline and/or a high school diploma with 3-5 years of prior experience and/or demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in a quality or technical role, incorporating sound decision-making/judgment skills. Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook; and Data entry and functional experience using an ERP or similar system. Essential Job Functions: Tests raw materials, packaging components, in-process materials, and finished products. Properly and accurately performs physical, chemical, and analytical testing in accordance with established SOPs; Performs production line start-up checks (when required); Prepares and submits samples to third-party labs for testing; Performs environmental micro swabbing; Develops and/or updates quality standards and documents. Interprets test results against quality requirements and determines acceptability. Interprets and follows reference documentation, such as specifications and SOPs; Provides guidance to others in the understanding of quality requirements. Executes required tasks in a manner that facilitates the efficient flow of work and information through the QC laboratory. Effectively communicates quality information both verbally and in written form. Accurately records and files quality data and reports. At all times, complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs); Accurately performs audits of products, processes, and systems. Actively participates in nonconformance investigations, problem-solving, and continuous improvement efforts. Maintains a neat, clean, and orderly work area. Complies with all required PPE. Follows supervisor/manager's directions. Follows all Company safety rules/procedures, and abides by all Company policies; and Other duties may be assigned from time to time.
