Description The Quality Technician provides support by examining materials, products and processes to assure compliance to customer specifications and HyTech quality requirements. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Duties/Responsibilities: Perform in-process inspections to the standards provided with job traveler or quality instructions. Performs final inspections to the standards defined with the job traveler or quality instructions. Measures parts dimensionally, using precision tools and gages. Visually inspects parts for defects. Compares actual results from the dimensional, gage and visual checks to the blueprint or control plan and decides on acceptability of parts. Completes paperwork clearly and concisely including lot tags, in-process tags and other related paperwork in a timely manner. Completes SPC charts, interprets the results, and takes appropriate action. After identifying an out-of-control process, or some other defect, takes appropriate action up to and including shutting down the noncompliant machine and quarantining parts. Assists the calibration process by identifying and notifying appropriate people of tools and gage calibration status. Able to interpret and use technically complex materials and instructions including Job Packets, engineering instructions, specifications, drawings, blueprints, schematics, and manuals, to effectively perform, troubleshoot, and make decisions without direct supervision. Recognize safe behavior and acts to create a safe workplace while actively promoting safety. Follow all company policy and procedures as provided by management. Improves efficiency through continuous improvement of quality, methods processes, standardization and housekeeping. Maintains high morale, a safe, clean and organized environment, high efficiency, excellent quality, and on-time delivery schedules. Assist Quality Engineer with PPAP documentation. Work independently with minimum supervision. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Required Skills/Abilities: Good written and verbal skills Be self-responsible for own actions and practice consistency and dependability. Capable of positive change with a sense of urgency Basic mathematical skills required, including fractions, decimals and a general understanding of statistics. Reasoning ability includes being able to identify practical problems that include several variables. Able to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to use precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, comparators, surface plates, dial indicators and bore gages. Ability to use artifacts such as ring gages, plug or pin gages and other specialty gages. Ability to operate a personal computer and various software applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), Internet Explorer and other Microsoft Windows related programs. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Prefer at least one year of related experience. Other certifications, training or requirements as may arise for this position as communicated by management. Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements. Physical Requirements: Periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time or move or position objects up to 50 lbs. Visual acuity to read instructions and inspect parts produced. May be required to communicate, discern, convey, or exchange information with other teammates. Must be able to wear all personal protective equipment at all times during work hours as required by company safety rules. Responsibilities
The Quality Technician supports compliance by examining materials, products, and processes against customer specifications and company requirements through performing in-process and final inspections. Duties include dimensional measurement using precision tools, defect identification, completing necessary documentation, interpreting SPC charts, and taking corrective action when processes are out of control.
