Position Summary: Quality Technician Interns work within a wider team of professionals with the overall aim of making sure that our supply chain produces components and products that are safe, reliable, and meet customer expectations. Quality Technician Interns work together with various stakeholders, at every part of the design, procurement, and manufacturing process such as; Design teams – assisting in first article, FMEA, PFMEA, and out of box audits to ensure product meets design specifications and identify areas of weakness. Supplier teams – assisting in qualifying raw materials and component parts, ensuring they meet the company’s quality standards via PPAP and on-going quality monitoring. Manufacturing teams – assisting with in-process controls and component issue resolution. Customer teams – analyzing issues reported via customer feedback, and assisting in communicating changes to suppliers, inspection, or manufacturing as necessary. As a Quality Technician Intern, you will assist in the creation of quality processes and documentation to ensure products and processes from suppliers meet technical standards. They execute quality objectives to support customers, industry, and corporate requirements. Quality Technician Interns continuously improve the organization’s quality system and promote improvements in quality principles and practices across a fast paced, rapidly changing supply chain environment. Position Responsibilities: Inspects select incoming materials for compliance to specifications (Drawings, BOM’s, Routing Guide, Workmanship Standard, safety, etc.) Collect data, generate inspection reports, discrepant material reports, and movements of products Performs source inspections-audits to validate product conformance, internal manufacturing/assembly processes, and supplier process controls Create inspection programs via software/equipment (VXInspect) Advocate the quality system and applicable standards to assure compliance with the company quality policy and system and all pertinent regulatory requirements, maintain tactical quality metrics to monitor ongoing product and process quality, and assist quality improvement teams to continuously improve the ISO 9001 / 14001 / 13485 Quality Management System Participate in material review boards to ensure product dispositions meet customer requirements and do not compromise Ergotron quality standards in the short and long-term Maintains accurate quality records of inspection and audit activities Create tools and fixtures in order to inspect components Support routine maintenance and calibration of quality equipment Report quality concerns to respective team members Adheres to company policy regarding safety guidelines, policies, and procedures Supports “Lean Business Enterprise” initiatives for continuous process improvement and waste elimination. Additional duties as requested. Position Requirements (Knowledge & Experience): Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) Prior experience with ERP systems (Oracle) and inspection software (VXInspect, Polyworks, Calypso, etc.) Technical degree in manufacturing, quality, or similar field; Equivalent experience may substitute for this requirement 1+ Prior years experience in a quality / continuous improvement role is preferred. Good problem solver with the ability to rapidly handle change in a progressive and growing organization. Experience in a fast paced, manufacturing environment with new product development containing mechanical, electrical, and software elements is preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external resources. Well-developed written/verbal communication and record keeping skills. Strong interpersonal relations and team skills. Experience with quality equipment/gauges, PPAP, and first/pass yield is preferred. Knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical new product development. Proficient in interpreting 3D CAD drawings and Bill of Material structures. Certified Quality Auditor and/or Technician is preferred Good Quality System (ISO-9001) knowledge Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job as described to you for the position.
