This Quality Technician position performs inspections of the Company’s products to determine conformance with specifications. https://ppgcorp.com/ Highlights and Benefits Quarterly profit-sharing bonus; eligible upon hire Paid time off 401(k) with company match Paid holidays Tuition / professional development reimbursement Health, dental, and vision insurance Optional HSA with company contribution Short-term disability, long term disability, and life insurance at no cost Limitless opportunity for advancement Requirements Performing parts cleaning operation utilizing a pressure washer Utilizing standard mechanical and electrical instruments, functional gauges, and test rigs Processing associated documentation including process tags, rework tags, and nonconforming material documents Working under direct supervision and in accordance with instructions and techniques Performing daily audits of processes Disposition non-conforming product Performing other work-related duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES) High School Diploma or GED required (Additional Training / Education taken into consideration) Minimum of 2 years of inspection experience in an aerospace precision machining environment Knowledgeable and skilled in the use of standard mechanical and electrical instruments, functional gauges, and test rigs Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection instructions Mechanical aptitude to adjust / repair gages and fixtures Ability to identify / troubleshoot machining issues Ability to work under direct supervision and to follow written instructions and techniques Must be willing to work hands-on Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet time sensitive deadlines Basic mechanical / mathematical aptitude required Basic computer skills Familiar with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: Communicate (Speaking and Listening) Sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time Walking across the shop floor to different departments and machines Use a pressure washer for prolonged periods of time Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds The candidate can expect the majority of their time will be spent at the pressure washer. This will be a physically demanding, however essential part of the job. The remainder of their time will be spent performing Quality Technician tasks as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a shop environment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to heavy at times where hearing protection may be necessary. This position is specifically for off-shift hours – the candidate must be willing to work night shift hours approximately 7:00pm – 3:30am. Weekends may also be required based on production needs. The successful candidate will begin training on day shift and will transition to night shift when training is complete. Specific scheduled time is subject to change at the discretion of management and department needs.
