JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Technician is an hourly position and is responsible for sampling and testing product to ensure that quality standards are met.

Facility Expectation

  • Follow the expectations of all Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality standards.
  • Ensure product quality expectations are met.
  • Follow all facility Good Manufacturing Practices as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring area is kept clean and completion of all listed housekeeping duties per the master sanitation schedule.
  • Work with other Operations colleagues to effectively communicate production issues.
  • Participate in morning toolbox, shift exchange/review and response meetings to communicate your key process indicator performance.
  • Once qualified, provide mentoring and training to new colleagues.
  • Required to work overtime as specified by management.
  • Attend training classes in-plant or at other locations as assigned.

Work Duties

  • Responsibilities include collection of ingredient samples and preparing finished feed samples for weekly testing, assisting with gathering plant specific monitoring activity samples to send to the lab for testing, reconciling daily perpetual inventory, reviewing documentation for completion, daily calibration of standard lab instruments, recording and interpreting test results, verifying sufficient inventory of testing supplies, and maintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory environment.
  • Actively participate in all safety programs and assist safety coordinator as necessary.
  • Ability to effectively communicate lab results to operations personnel.
  • Willingness to cross train and become familiar with all lab equipment, and perform these duties as needed.
  • Show an understanding that all accidents are preventable and safety is everyone’s responsibility.
  • Maintain awareness and adhere to all GMP, HACCP, EPA, OSHA, and employee standards and guidelines.
  • Assist the operations personnel in non-laboratory items during plant shutdown period such as, but not limited to, painting, cleaning, and data entry.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1+ year experience working with a lab/manufacturing setting preferred
  • Candidate should be familiar with operating standard lab equipment (i.e., pH meter, balances) but not required.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Computer skills and competency in EXCEL and Word are preferred.
  • Position requires the ability to lift 50 pounds and be on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • On the job training is available.

ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.
