The School of Medicine’s Center for Faculty Educators (CFE) seeks to identify an advanced Quantitative Research Assistant to support the analysis of rigorous learner assessment and other related medical education research. As an element of this work, the quantitative research assistant will devote a significant amount of time collaborating with faculty members in the design and implementation of a comprehensive effort to strengthen the teaching and evaluation skills of SOM faculty and will assist CFE education scientists in their scholarly works. Provides advanced quantitative research support including data analysis, and support for writing grants and publications.
The Research Data Analyst (RDA) will use skills as a seasoned, experienced research professional for multiple areas of inquiry, displaying a full understanding of in-depth statistical analyses and research software programming techniques.
*NOTE: This is a 50% Career, Hybrid (flexible) role. Remote Day(s) TBD
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $87,900 - $126,900 (Annual Rate).

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

UCSF SOM Office of Medical Education is nationally and internationally known for its development, assessment, and evaluation of innovative educational programs addressing the critical learning needs of 21st century physicians. While many departments participate in these programs and there is increasing collaborative education innovation across the four health professions schools at UCSF, the education scientists and their research community in the Center for Faculty Educators has been particularly robust and productive and require this additional support to sustain this productivity.
The Center for Faculty Educators (CFE) is a unit within OME comprised of approximately 9 staff who provide administrative services to core programs: Academy of Medical Educators (AME), faculty development, education research, and support for volunteer clinical professor educators. The CFE staff supports the faculty of AME and CFE as they focus efforts on developing and mentoring educators, providing leadership and service, and collaborating in educational research. CFE staff play a central role in developing the next generation of educational leaders by managing and implementing programs and resources, including financial management, by supporting faculty in their educational endeavors and in finding opportunities for teaching, skills development, mentorship, scholarly collaboration, and recognition of achievement in their roles as teachers and educational researchers.
This role works primarily with the director of the CFE and PhD education scientists.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum 3+ yiears of directly relevant experience required.
  • Thorough knowledge of research function.
  • Thorough skills associated with statistical analysis and systems programming.
  • Thorough skills in analysis and consultation.
  • Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or higher and/or equivalent experience /training in education research and/or learner assessment
  • Skills in project management.
  • Research skills at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations.
