Based at our Head Office in Norwich, as Quantity Surveyor you will be working within our Commercial Team, reporting directly to the Managing Quantity Surveyor.
You will display a keenness to develop your commercial acumen within a supportive environment, display good organisational skills and have a desire to learn and understand the construction and civil engineering industries.
The Quantity Surveyor role is a fundamental position within the Commercial team. You will be carrying out key tasks in the day-to-day functions of the commercial team. You will build positive working relationships within our team and Clients, to ensure we obtain our collective goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential - GCSE Grades A to C or 5/6 to 9 in Maths, English and ICT
Desirable - recognised Civils / Engineering / Construction Qualification, HNC / HND or higher, however training can be offered to the successful candidate.

SPECIALIST SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years experience in the Groundworks sector (preferred but not essential) as an AQS / QS
  • Good customer-facing skills
  • Self-management & self-motivating
  • Initiative – able to work independently when required within a small team
  • Ability to manage workloads.
  • Timely
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Good numerical skills
Responsibilities

With a primary focus to support the function of the business, but focusing on supporting the Managing Quantity Surveyor and wider Surveying team:

  • Liaising with Clients ensuring their specific requirements have been met and ongoing projects are progressing as planned.
  • Working with the Project team to prepare and present accurate Valuation forecasts.
  • Working with the Project team to provide accurate Monthly Valuations and Applications to present to the Client for payment.
  • Verify Payments against Applications and summarise debtor’s position.
  • Accurately price, negotiate and agree Contractual Variations with the Client
  • Work with the Project Team to highlight and mitigate risks to Health and Safety, Quality, Customer Satisfaction and Profitability of Construction Sites.
  • Ideally you will have knowledge of construction techniques and materials.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with clients, sub-contractors, and suppliers
  • Procurement and Payment of Sub-Contractors / Suppliers.
  • Computer literate in the use of Microsoft Office, primarily Word and Excel & Outlook
  • Produce Monthly Performance Summary reports.
