Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented MEP Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to handle the cost estimation, budgeting, and commercial control of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) works. The ideal candidate will support the pre- and post-contract phases, ensuring accurate quantity take-offs, pricing, procurement assistance, and valuation of MEP services.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education:
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 4–6 years of MEP quantity surveying and estimation experience in construction (GCC experience preferred).
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, codes, and construction practices.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and estimation software (e.g., PlanSwift, CostX, Bluebeam).
  • Knowledge of FIDIC contracts and local contract practices.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: ESTIMATION DUTIES:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and BOQs for MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire fighting, etc.) based on drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
  • Analyze tender documents, review drawings, and coordinate with design teams to verify scope and quantities.
  • Request and evaluate supplier/subcontractor quotations for pricing accuracy and scope compliance.
  • Prepare cost comparisons, cost breakdowns, and unit rate analyses for management review.
  • Maintain a database of material prices, labor rates, and productivity norms.

QUANTITY SURVEYING DUTIES:

  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs using drawings, specifications, and site measurements.
  • Support procurement with material and subcontractor quantity requirements.
  • Track and manage variations, claims, and change orders with cost implications.
  • Assist in contract administration, interim payments, and final accounts for MEP-related works.
  • Liaise with project teams and site engineers to validate progress and prepare valuations.
  • Prepare and submit monthly cost reports, cash flow projections, and cost-to-complete estimates.
