Description

IMH Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to carry out all pre-contract Quantity Surveying duties in respect of Council Housing Capital Programme Schemes and Environmental Projects for our client in Bury.

Responsibilities

DUTIES:

  • Providing budget and detailed estimates to advise of the potential financial outlay of the schemes including professional fees.
  • Preparation of detailed estimates.
  • In-depth study of costings to either modify or reduce the cost of a project or to make the design more cost effective.
  • Provision of estimated final cost information in respect of financial reports.
  • Responsible for determining quantities, writing specifications, forming part of the tender documents
  • Liaison with Legal Services to ensure that the invitation of quotations / tenders is in accordance with the Council’s contract procedure rules.
  • Issue tender documents electronically via the Council’s “E” Portal.
  • On receipt of tenders, ensure that the lowest tender is checked and evaluated for errors, omissions and inconsistencies.
  • Preparation of tender reports.
  • Following approval of tenders carry out negotiation as necessary.
  • Responsible for the provision of Bill of Adjustment for price reduction purposes. Initiate discussion with the project manager and negotiate any changes with the Contractor.
  • Advise on building costs for external grants / funding.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

  • HND in relevant area (Essential).
  • Professional Qualification e.g. Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Chartered Institute of Building (MIOCB), Degree in Building Surveying (Desirable).
  • Experience of budgetary control/financial management (Essential).
  • Educated to degree level/Professional Qualification (Essential).
  • Experience in the delivery of overseeing and providing project financial/contract management (Essential).
  • Valid Driving Licence & access to a vehicle for site visits (Essential).
