QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional membership (e.g., RICS) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in government procurement and public sector tendering.
  • Strong understanding of NEC, JCT, and other standard forms of contract.
  • Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in construction and proven experience in government procurement processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing project costs, ensuring value for money, and maintaining compliance with public sector procurement regulations across a range of infrastructure and building projects. This role is based in Cork and will be expected to travel across the South West regularly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation for construction projects.
  • Manage procurement processes in line with government frameworks and public sector regulations.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and financial standards.
  • Monitor project expenditures and provide regular cost reports and forecasts.
  • Conduct risk, value management, and cost control exercises throughout project lifecycles.
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and government stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
  • Administer contract variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Support project delivery teams with commercial advice and procurement strategy.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
