He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to demonstrate their expertise at Watercare, New Zealand’s largest water utility. In this role, you’ll deliver high-quality Quantity Surveying services and provide critical cost assurance across our supplier network. You’ll play a key role in ensuring transparency and accountability in contractor charges, while evaluating the robustness of financial data used to support those charges. Please note: This role requires a high level of engagement with suppliers and will involve spending at least four days per week onsite at supplier offices, in and around the Auckland region. You will work in a team alongside an Internal Auditor when out at supplier offices. Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality Quantity Surveying services to support Watercare’s strategic and operational goals. Provide visibility and oversight of contractor costs charged to Watercare, ensuring accuracy and fairness. Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of financial data used by suppliers as the basis for invoicing Watercare, and that work has been completed to the required quality standards Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | About you To succeed in this role, you’ll need to demonstrate strong people leadership and a proven ability to operate within large, complex public or corporate environments. Your qualifications and experience will include: A recognised professional qualification such as New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NZIQS), or an equivalent international designation (e.g. FRICS, MRICS, or ARICS). In-depth knowledge of quantity surveying methodologies, processes, and procedures, supported by a Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics. A solid understanding of business operations, including relevant legislation and key commercial drivers.
