Description

ABOUT US

Quantum Brilliance is the world pioneer in room-temperature quantum computing using synthetic diamonds. Our unique vision is to make quantum computing available as an everyday technology, from data centers to remote and mobile systems like autonomous robots and satellites. In contrast to quantum computers that fill a room, we are developing quantum accelerators with more computing power than a classical supercomputer but a form factor smaller than a lunchbox.
Founded in 2019 by experts in diamond quantum science from the Australian National University, we are a full-stack quantum computing start-up. An Australia-German company, our HQs are in Canberra and Stuttgart, with additional locations across Australia and southern Germany. We are working with global technology innovators to develop quantum computing applications, integrate quantum with high-performance computing, solve materials science problems and develop ultra-precise semiconductor manufacturing and control techniques.
We are backed by eminent venture capital funds and major research and technology institutes.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • PhD degree in experimental Physics or equivalent
  • Solid experience in a research or commercial environment with single NV or ensemble NVs (could include PhD)
  • High competence in Confocal Microscopy and Characterization of NVs in diamond (or similar systems)
  • Comfortable experience in programming control SW in python
  • Defining and solving deep technical problems Strong English language skills (basic German skills are a plus, good communicator and team player

Desired skills and experience that will help you excel:

  • Knowledge of quantum computing and quantum optics.

  • Theoretical background in spin control/qubit control
  • Experience with PDMR techniques and electronic transport phenomena in diamond
  • Ability to set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to rapidly changing needs
  • An analytical mind and ability to problem-solve using experimentation, logic, and deductive reasoning
  • Experience with SW Engineering tools (gitlab, CD/CI)

WHY QUANTUM BRILLIANCE?

At Quantum Brilliance, you’ll join a team of experts working to create a massive, transformative impact globally. You’ll join a team of problem-solvers, who are curious and driven to understand and master new things. We pride ourselves on a collaborative environment, where we learn from the unique expertise that each person brings and support the growth of each team member.
Quantum Brilliance’s vision to enable mass deployment of quantum accelerators will propel industries to harness edge computing applications and next-generation supercomputers. Our international partnerships extend into North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific, working with governments, supercomputing centres, research organizations and industry leaders.
If the above seems well aligned and you are looking for an opportunity to progress your career into a dynamic and fast-moving startup/scaleup venture in the Quantum Computing arena then we would love to hear from you.
We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment; hence we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
We are aware that some individuals tend to only apply for jobs when they meet 100% of the criteria. If you think you have what it takes, but do not necessarily meet every single point on the job description, please still get in touch. We would love to have a chat and see if you could be a great fit

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Research and development of new technologies to push the limits of quantum computing operations using qubits in diamond
  • Development and optimization of characterization and operation techniques to enable quantum computing operations using confocal R&D setups
  • Develop, implement and integrate new operation methods for initialization, control and readout of multi-qubit systems in research instruments and Quantum Computing prototypes
  • Collaboration with and support of our internal and international R&D teams

    About You
Ideally an experimental quantum physicist, with a strong background in NV physics or similar spin systems. You’re comfortable using confocal microscopes, electrical instrumentation and HW in an R&D-focused setting. You enjoy learning new fields and concepts, can quickly understand higher-level problems and interact with experts from adjacent fields like device design, control SW und quantum information architecture.
