Description The STEM Alliance is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Teaching & Tech Assistant (TTA) to support our Quantum Explorations summer program for rising high school seniors. Quantum Explorations is a hands-on course that introduces students to foundational concepts in quantum science and emerging quantum technologies through inquiry, experimentation, and mentorship from industry professionals. The program emphasizes accessibility, real-world applications, and exposure to cutting-edge STEM careers. This two-week, part-time summer role is ideal for a graduate or advanced college student studying in the fields of physics, engineering, computer science, or a related field who enjoys working with students and supporting advanced, hands-on learning environments. What You’ll Be Doing You’ll support the full scope of the Quantum Explorations program, from assisting with instruction and mentoring students to supporting technical setup and day-to-day classroom operations. You’ll work with the lead instructor and program team to ensure a smooth learning experience and help deliver a high-impact, engaging learning experience. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Program instruction and classroom activities Develop a working knowledge of the curriculum to support participants Provide 1:1 academic support for students who need help with step-by-step instructions or complex concepts Support student engagement, hands-on activities, and problem-solving discussions Support the instructor with classroom management and student interactions Assist with mentor sessions and facilitate student Q&A Program and technical support Prepare, set up, and distribute program materials and equipment Ensure all equipment functions properly before and during instruction Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise Assist with program development and implementation as needed Attend all in-person and virtual program sessions as assigned Requirements We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable supporting advanced STEM learning both in and outside the classroom. You enjoy helping students navigate challenging and abstract concepts, supporting hands-on and technical activities, and collaborating closely with instructors to ensure a smooth learning experience. You are motivated by mission-driven work and excited to expand equitable access to emerging fields like quantum science and technology. Additional skills and qualifications include: Current graduate student or college student with advanced study in physics, engineering, computer science, or a related field Experience teaching or mentoring high school or middle school students Experience as a teaching assistant, lab instructor, or STEM outreach mentor Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex or abstract concepts clearly Comfort supporting hands-on, technical, or experimental learning activities Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to reach partner sites independently across Westchester County Besides that you might have these bonus skills: Bilingual (Spanish a plus) AV or educational technology experience Hands-on STEM, maker, or lab-based experience All employees must: Possess a valid Social Security card and NYS state identification Be willing to take a background check with fingerprint approval if you are not a Mamaroneck School District employee (we will provide instructions as part of the onboarding process) Provide two professional references if you are not a Mamaroneck School District employee and are a new employee REQUIRED PROGRAM DATES & TIMES: Summer program July 6th, 2026 to July 17th, 2026 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
