Who are we looking for? We’re gearing up to launch our new Newcombe Road Sand quarry, and are looking for an experienced, hands on Quarry Manager to lead the establishment and ongoing operation of this exciting new site. This is a rare opportunity to take a greenfield quarry from setup through to full production shaping systems, culture, and performance from day one. About the role In this role, you will take the lead in establishing and operating our new Newcombe Road Sand quarry. This includes overseeing the setup of the site, commissioning the processing plant, and establishing the systems and processes to ensure safe, efficient and compliant operations from day one. You will manage and develop the on site team, creating a positive and engaged culture focused on safety, teamwork and continuous improvement. The role involves working closely with internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers and contractors to ensure operational needs are met and production targets are achieved. Strong financial and operational oversight will also be required, including managing budgets, reporting, and contributing to wider business planning. This is a hands on leadership role where you’ll provide guidance on the ground, support your team, and make operational decisions that keep the quarry running smoothly and efficiently. It’s a unique opportunity to shape a new operation from the ground up and lead a high performing sand quarry producing up to 400kt per annum. About you You will be an experienced leader in quarry or extractive operations, confident working with sand processing, production planning, and day to day operational management. You bring strong people leadership, a positive and proactive approach, and the capability to operate safely and efficiently. You will hold an A or B Grade Quarry qualification and bring experience in aggregate production operations. Waikato sand experience is a bonus, but not essential, what matters is your ability to use sound judgement, manage risks, and prioritise safety, quality and productivity. What we need from you Confident using Microsoft programmes, including Word and Excel. Strong safety leadership with good knowledge of quarrying legislation. Class 2 Full Licence with a WTR endorsement Excellent people management, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to support and contribute to developing production targets. Practical sand or aggregate processing knowledge. Fixed processing plant maintenance experience is advantageous. Competent in operating heavy mobile plant.
