Description
Position Overview The Quarry Superintendent serves as the primary on-site leader responsible for supervising daily quarry operations, personnel, and equipment. This role ensures that production objectives, safety standards, and operational procedures are executed consistently and effectively at the site level. The Quarry Superintendent acts as the direct link between field operations and senior operational leadership. Key Responsibilities Site Operations & Supervision • Direct and supervise daily quarry operations, including extraction, hauling, and stockpile activities • Coordinate daily work plans, task assignments, and equipment usage • Ensure operational activities align with production schedules and operational priorities Safety & Compliance • Enforce all safety rules, site-specific safety plans, and operational procedures • Conduct daily safety briefings and ensure compliance with PPE requirements • Immediately report incidents, near misses, and hazards and support investigations Workforce Leadership • Supervise Heavy Equipment Operators and field staff • Monitor attendance, performance, and conduct at the site level • Support onboarding, training, and coaching of new and existing employees Reporting & Coordination • Communicate daily production status, site conditions, and issues to the Operations Manager • Coordinate with maintenance teams regarding equipment performance and repair needs • Maintain basic operational logs and documentation Qualifications Required • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in quarry, mining, or heavy equipment operations • Strong understanding of quarry workflows, equipment usage, and safety requirements Preferred • Prior experience managing union or non-union field crews • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements related to quarry operations Work Environment & Expectations • On-site, outdoor quarry environment • Regular exposure to heavy equipment, noise, dust, and weather conditions • Adherence to safety protocols and PPE is mandatory Position Type / Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, salary-exempt position. Work hours may vary based on operational demands and site conditions.
