QUARRY WORKER - CLUDEN STONE QUARRY, OTAGO

We are recruiting for a full-time (42.5 hours per week), permanent Quarry Worker for Cluden (near Tarras) who could be based in Wanaka/Tarras/Luggate/Hawea/Cromwell. Due to increased workload, ideally with an immediate start.
Rate of pay will be confirmed depending on skills and experience, but a minimum of $30.00 per hour.
Our quarry workers operate the guillotine and cut, trim, and shape stone for use in the stonemasonry industry. They operate machinery such as the loader, conveyor, and generator. They carry out pre-start checks on the digger and use it to lift bags of rock. Our quarry manager is responsible for the more complex work.
We are looking for people who are used to working outdoors and are already fit and ready to start a physical job.
Experience operating machinery or general mechanical aptitude would be an advantage (by that we mean someone who could start a water pump, do an oil change, or hear when a motor is under strain). You must be able to learn quickly and have a practical approach to problem solving.
This role could suit someone who has worked as a labourer in farming, construction, or similar. There is the potential to turn this job into a career since we will support quarry apprenticeship training for the right person, which can lead to a B Grade Quarry Manager certificate.

• Guaranteed hours: 30 hours per week guaranteed (even if the quarry isn’t operating), but we normally work between 40 and 45 hours per week.
