JOB SUMMARY

We’re looking for a seasoned estimator to join our team and take ownership of the quoting process. This is a key role that directly supports our leadership team and helps drive the future of our business.

  • You’ve worked in a CNC machine shop/ sheet metal technicians or precision manufacturing environment

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, mathematics, or a related field

(or at least 3 years of experience in pricing and/or quoting in a manufacturing environment)

  • Strongly preferred: experience in the Aerospace industry
  • Proven ability to develop pricing and prepare quotes using an ERP system
  • Solid understanding of pricing, quoting, and costing practices in a high-mix / high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, and working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; able to identify trends and patterns in RFQ data and market intelligence
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to solve moderately complex cost and pricing problems
  • Strong initiative and a curious, investigative mindset to explore markets and drive strategic pricing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings, specifications, and technical documents
Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review customer drawings and RFQs to create accurate and strategic quotes
  • Analyze historic MRP/ERP data, machine times, and operator input to estimate labor
  • Work closely with our CNC programmer, machinists, sheet metal technicians and vendors to gather material and outside process pricing
  • Strategically weigh which jobs to take on — balancing margin, capacity, and customer value
  • Help develop more efficient quoting systems using Excel, MRP/ERP, and the Company server.
  • Collaborate directly with ownership to continuously refine pricing and production strategies
  • Develop strategic pricing for major proposal bids using internally developed costs and market data
  • Analyze data as required to resolve moderately complex cost and pricing questions
  • Review component specifications, including technical drawings, bills of material and manufacturing routings to calculate current costs
  • Ensure pricing calculations are aligned with current market conditions to achieve margin targets
  • Coordinate with Engineering to review customer drawings and ensure component characteristics and technical requirements conform to our product designs
  • Maintain required performance metrics (win-rate, etc…) to ensure compliance with business objectives and AS9100 standards
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal support functions, including Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing.
  • Business development with existing customers.
  • Work with limited supervision

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED (SINCE QUOTING WILL TAKE UP 50% OF CANDIDATES’ TIME, THE REMAINING TIME WILL BE ALLOCATED AS FOLLOWS)

  • Business development with new customers.
  • Strengthening the vendors’ partnership (pricing, lead time)
  • Follow up with vendors’ POs
  • Tracking vendors’ performance OTD
  • Data analysis/collecting data from ERP systems.
  • Assist Plant Manager & Production Manager with miscellaneous projects
  • Support and contribute to lean, safety projects.
