We’re looking for a Data Backend Team Lead — a leader who thrives on designing scalable data systems, turning messy healthcare data into reliable, high-impact platforms, and building the foundation for AI-driven products. This role is for someone who wants to own data as a product, shape architecture at scale, and enable smarter, faster decisions across the company. Responsibilities ● End-to-end ownership of our data platform — from ingestion and modeling to serving, analytics, and production pipelines. ● Architecture of large-scale data systems, handling complex, high-volume, multi-source healthcare data with reliability and performance. ● Designing and evolving our data infrastructure to support both operational systems and analytical workloads at scale. ● Leading the AI/data foundation, enabling ML and AI capabilities through high-quality, accessible, and well-modeled data. ● Building robust backend services and pipelines, ensuring scalability, observability, and cost-efficiency in cloud environments. ● Leading and growing a team of backend/data engineers, setting high standards for engineering, data quality, and ownership. ● Cross-functional collaboration with Product, Analytics, and other R&D teams to translate business needs into scalable data solutions. ● Driving best practices in data modeling, governance, and system design across the organization. Requirements ● 5+ years of backend/data engineering experience, with strong foundations in distributed systems and data-intensive applications. ● 2+ years of team leadership experience ● Proven experience designing and operating large-scale data systems or platforms ● Strong experience with cloud environments and modern data stack technologies. ● Solid understanding of data modeling, pipelines, and data lifecycle management. ● Experience working with high-scale SaaS systems and complex, real-world datasets ● Strong architectural thinking — ability to make and justify tradeoffs across scale, performance, and cost. ● Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multiple teams and domains. ● High ownership mindset — you don’t just build pipelines, you own the impact of the data.
