R & D DEVELOPER | 12 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT | KEW

We are seeking a Sock R&D developer to join our dynamic team in Kew for a 12-month maternity leave cover. In this role, you will be working alongside our Design team and Senior R&D Raw Material Developer to support the development of innovative sock designs, research new raw materials, and oversee the product development process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research & Development: Investigate new raw materials, yarns, knitting methods, finishes, and techniques for sock development, working closely with the Design team to align with seasonal product development requests.
  • Collaboration: Provide technical support and advice to the Design team and other internal teams to ensure timely and quality development of new socks.
  • Vendor Liaison: Brief sock suppliers and R&D teams in China and Bangkok on new developments, ensuring adherence to timelines and HAA standards.
  • Sock Quality & Testing: Evaluate sock quality, fit, and wear trials, providing feedback and conducting necessary troubleshooting throughout the development process.
  • Innovation & Trend Research: Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, sharing valuable insights with the Design and R&D teams.
  • Documentation & Administration: Maintain accurate records of developments, manage sock raw material libraries, and attend weekly team meetings to provide progress updates.

For success in this role you will have:

  • Textile technology qualifications
  • Experience within a similar role
  • Experience in developing and sourcing fabrics and trims or sock patterning or Garment Tech role.
  • Proven problem solving skills and resolution-orientated
  • Proven communication and influencing skills - you’ll be communicating regularly with our technical team in Asia over the phone or via video conference
  • Flexible and positive attitude, comfortable with change and able to work in a fast moving environment
  • Strong PC skills: work and excel
