Description
R&D Electronics Technician   Build what doesn’t exist yet. Test what others can’t. Solve what others miss. We’re looking for a hands-on R&D Electronics Technician who thrives in a prototype environment - someone who enjoys building, troubleshooting, and refining electronic systems from concept through production. This is not a repetitive production role. You’ll work directly with engineering to bring new products to life, solve real technical problems, and influence how designs move into manufacturing.   ⚡ What You’ll Actually Be Doing * Build prototype PCBAs and cable assemblies from engineering specs and schematics * Modify and iterate on designs as products evolve (often in real time) * Troubleshoot and diagnose issues at the component, circuit, and system level * Build and maintain test boxes, fixtures, and wiring assemblies * Run functional and reliability testing on prototypes and existing products * Provide critical feedback to engineering on manufacturability and design improvements * Inspect vendor and internal builds to ensure quality and compliance * Document testing, results, and design changes with precision * Collaborate closely with engineers to solve complex technical challenges What Makes You a Strong Fit You’re someone who: * Enjoys figuring things out—not just following instructions * Can read schematics and translate them into real, working builds * Has strong troubleshooting instincts and doesn’t stop at surface-level fixes * Takes pride in clean builds, accurate work, and reliable results * Can manage multiple priorities without constant direction Required Experience * High school diploma (technical experience matters more than degrees here) * Hands-on experience with: * Soldering, wiring, and circuit assembly * Electronic components, circuit boards, and schematics * Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) * Strong analytical thinking and communication skills Preferred (But Not Required) * Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (any technical field) * Experience with: * Electronic CAD (e.g., Altium) * Mechanical CAD (e.g., SolidWorks) * IPC standards (IPC-A-610 / IPC-WHMA-A620) * Automotive or vehicle electrical systems Tools & Environment You’ll regularly work with: * Oscilloscopes, DMMs, and other electronic test equipment * Prototype builds and custom test setups * A warehouse/manufacturing environment (not a desk-only role) What Success Looks Like * Prototypes are built accurately and efficiently * Issues are identified early—and solved correctly * Engineering trusts your feedback on design improvements * Documentation is clean, complete, and usable * You operate with minimal oversight and high accountability
Responsibilities
The technician will be responsible for building prototype Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) and cable assemblies according to specifications, while also modifying and iterating on designs as products evolve. Key duties include troubleshooting issues at various levels, building test fixtures, running functional and reliability tests, and providing crucial feedback to engineering regarding manufacturability.
