MINIMUM EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field with 2 years’ experience or MS or PhD
  • Commercial experience with linear macromodeling and state-space fitting applications is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience with modern C++, Python and Agile software development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Excellent technical knowledge and commercial experience with state-of-the-art linear macromodeling, ROM and state-space fitting algorithms
  • Expertise in numerical analysis
  • Knowledge of AI/ML scientific computing, including Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Experience with software configuration management, data structures and algorithms
  • Passion for crafting robust and efficient code
  • Experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial software development environment
  • Understanding of customer requirements and tools used in this domain

Responsibilities

SUMMARY / ROLE PURPOSE

Seeking an outstanding candidate to join the R&D team responsible for ANSYS circuit and simulation products focusing on software development of the Reduced Order Modeling (ROM) and linear macromodeling algorithms. We welcome applicants with a strong background in Circuit design and simulation, with an emphasis on state-space fitting algorithm development and ROM techniques. The successful candidate will have a solid background in scientific software development, the ability to develop novel solution approaches, and experience in the application of scientific principles to analyzing problems.
The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand customer requirements and accomplish development objectives.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in planning, architecture, and research
  • Performs moderately complex software development activities that may require extensive analysis in areas including user experience, software design, solver research and implementations of new solver algorithms in C++
  • Employs best software practices and helps to maintain them through technical reviews and mentoring, also participating in planning and architecture
  • Performs complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products
  • Performs research on problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions
  • Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. May work with strategic customers or proxies to assess needs and develop solutions
  • Works under the general supervision of a development manager
