Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In our Centre of Competence for Auxiliary Power Systems, we take a leading position in the design and development of auxiliary power converters and the associated electronic components for locomotives, high-speed trains, trams, buses and much more. To strengthen our motivated team, we are looking for a passionate electrical engineer with expertise in power electronics and ideally railway technology.
In this role you will be responsible for design of auxiliary power converters for railway, in ABB Traction.
The working time model for this position is: Hybrid #LI-Hybrid

Your main responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership of Design for power electronics circuits in customer projects and R&D projects.
  • Selection and Specification of components as semiconductors, capacitors and inductive components
  • Ensuring execution of all engineering activities through the “V-Model” as e.g. requirements engineering, conceptual design, simulation, test specification, commissioning of products in our power lab, support type test and perform tests at customer site in the vehicle.
  • Understanding and applying applicable processes, standards, guidelines, and requirements, including architectural and design constraints.
  • technical Customer communication (e.g. in respect to requirements or interface clarifications) and participating in design reviews

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

  • Master Degree (preferable higher) in Power Electronics or comparable qualification
  • You have gained experiences over several years in respect to development of power electronic devices, preferably in the railway industry (rolling stock)
  • You have established skills in the design of power electronic cuircuits based on IGBT-Technology in a power range up to 200 kVA
  • You are qualified in the application of SiC Semiconductors
  • Possess an enhanced knowledge of simulation work in Matlab/Simulink
  • Fluent in German and English language spoken and written
