This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.
The Position
We are looking for you as an R&D Engineer (m/f/d) for the Research & Development department at Roche Diagnostics Solutions, within the unit for Biological Rare Reagents at our site in Penzberg, Germany.
In the Antibody Development subchapter, you will work with your team to develop high-quality biological rare reagents such as monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), which are a central component of our immunoassay portfolio at Roche Diagnostics. You will contribute to a variety of projects across different indication areas – for example, in infectious diseases, oncology, or cardiology – within an interdisciplinary environment.
In this exciting role, you will develop monoclonal antibodies for our Roche immunoassays and continuously improve our processes to deliver the best possible antibodies.

The opportunity

  • You take responsibility for developing diagnostic antibodies for cross-(sub)chapter projects and stakeholders across various fields and locations (e.g., Elecsys, ClinChem, Sequencing, Hematology – both locally and globally, including Pleasanton and Rotkreuz).
  • This includes independently planning and executing antibody development for diagnostic assays on different Roche platforms, as well as sourcing the required immunogens and screening reagents from neighboring (sub)chapters.
  • You organize and coordinate immunization campaigns at internal facilities or with external CROs, and provide expert advice on monoclonal antibody development to other teams, both locally and internationally.
  • In addition, you contribute to the further development of antibody generation methods, particularly in the areas of single-cell deposition, cell culture, screening technologies, and T-cell assay development.
  • Laboratory automation systems are under your supervision to ensure experiments are carried out efficiently and in a standardized way.
  • You also oversee lab operations and ensure proper documentation, working with systems such as CloneX, eLN, and TAPIR.

Who you are

  • You hold a Master’s degree (University of Applied Sciences or equivalent) in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Bioengineering, or a related field, with solid knowledge of B-cell immunology and/or antibodies.
  • You also bring hands-on experience in B-cell and T-cell immunology, along with immunological techniques such as cell culture and multicolor flow cytometry.
  • In addition, you have experience working with automation systems, automated data integration processes, and in-depth knowledge of various antibody development methods and corresponding data analysis.
  • Strong teamwork skills, excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and confident time management are among your key strengths.
  • You combine an independent, flexible, and self-motivated working style with a strong enthusiasm for team collaboration.
  • A high level of scientific integrity, ethical responsibility, analytical and critical thinking, and strong organizational skills complete your profile.
