EDUCATION AND NECESSARY SKILLS

· Bachelor of engineering or physics (PhD will be highly regarded)
· Experience designing, assembling, and characterising optical systems
· Experience with standard test and measurement equipment (optical spectrum analysers, power meters, etc)
· Understanding of the optics concept used in the assembly of opto-electronic devices such as optical loss, PMD, PDL etc…
· Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
· Attention to detail.
Experience in the development and design of processes or tools/ equipment for the assembly of optoelectronic devices would be desirable as well as Zemax modelling experience, Python or similar programming work, Machine Learning and LabVIEW programming.

Responsibilities

· Contributing to new idea creation.
· Translate optical requirements into functional models
· Prototype optics concepts and designs
· Perform research to solve challenging optical problems
· Optical modelling to verify experimental outcomes.
· Design of processes related to the optics in WSS manufacturing.
· Design of experiments to troubleshoot WSS manufacturing yields, throughput or reliability concerns.
· Creation of component specifications and component sourcing.
· Support product realisation process.
