YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for an R&D Engineer at ABB Oy, System Drives Division (Technology Collaboration Office) in Helsinki. You will be participating in ABB Motion Power Semiconductor Technology and Reliability qualification focus area, used in industrial power inverters, converters, and drives. You will operate, support, design and simulate complex reliability tests and master characterization techniques. In addition to the practical testing, you will be responsible for delivering detailed reports, including practical failure analysis in our laboratories to support future R&D project decision making. You will contribute both in international cross-company scientific consortiums and internal technical reference groups. Furthermore, as part of the role you will be guiding the work of junior engineering trainees. In this role you will have the opportunity to build a new role and work together with experts representing low, medium and high voltage drive applications. You will get to dig deep into the inner behaviour and structure of power semiconductors and other power electronics components, becoming a true professional within the field. You will get to work in an international cross-functional environment, with excellent networking and development opportunities. Work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-hybrid You will be mainly accountable for: • Characterization and qualification of power semiconductor component for existing and future products and supporting R&D projects globally • Lifetime characterization for power semiconductor components based on calculations, measurement, and reliability test results • Participating in operating and development of reliability test setups for component level testing • Global networking with other power semiconductor interest groups within and outside ABB (e.g. member of internal specialist groups and international technical consortiums)
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
