Description

We are looking to strengthen the R&D team in Raufoss, Norway, with a position focused on finite elements simulations and related modelling methods. Position will be a central part of the Research and Development team focused on the global activities of Raufoss Technology. The R&D team is responsible for research activities and technology development, while supporting projects in sales, engineering and manufacturing operations.
Expect to balance theoretical problem-solving with a hands-on approach, adapting to various project phases that may require direct involvement in analytical and practical work. The position requires a combination of structured, detail-oriented work with a strong sense of independence and accountability for the quality of outcomes. Simultaneously, you will collaborate within teams, bringing a creative and solution-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

You will work in a creative R&D team, actively contributing to defining simulation activities within projects. Supporting idea and concept evaluations, building analysis models and knowledge, correlating simulation and test results, validating new products and processes. With the freedom to evaluate analysis methods and tools for the best possible outcome. You will also be central in enhancing the virtual validation methods to be applied by the global engineering teams.

  • Conduct in-depth data analysis and research to inform project decisions, while also taking an active role in day-to-day operational tasks.
  • Finite element simulation, and other modelling methods, covering

o Structural simulation of products
o Process simulations (metal forming, assembly and joining operations)
o Material modelling.

o Optimization and engineering process automation.

  • Development of virtual validation methods and supporting engineering staff.
  • Provide technical liaison with customers, suppliers and partners within research and technology development.
