SUMMARY:

The R&D Engineering Intern assists the R&D Engineering team with various tasks to gain practical experience in the field of study.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to take direction and feedback well.
  • Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to use measurement equipment to include calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • Proficiency i 2D AutoCAD and NX or SolidWorks 3D parametric modeling software; Latest Release.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of junior level courses in engineering related degree program.
  • Core knowledge of Mechanical Fundamentals

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

  • Exposure to machine noise.
  • Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production area.
  • Working conditions are normal for a high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds and working in and around heavy equipment.
  • Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and work boots.
  • This role may require walking in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment
Responsibilities
  • Creates and/or engineers solutions to provided design specifications.
  • Conducts R&D testing to characterize product and material performance.
  • Generates detailed and accurate 3D product models of various products and new developments.
  • Develops understanding of product applications, performance, quality standards, testing, and installation.
  • Contributes to company performance by completing all assigned tasks and special projects on time.
  • Liaises with manufacturing to align on resource capability and common goals.
  • Contributes to project planning and assists in smaller scale internal projects.
  • Assists in design qualification and validation of products, materials, and vendors.
  • Supports necessary experiments to test and validate product design.
  • Supports and assists in the improvement of internal engineering practices, standard and procedures for the R&D engineering tasks performed.
  • Assists in analyzing data producing clear, detailed reports for use across disciplines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
