RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGER OVERVIEW:

As the Research and Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the development of new product lines and improving existing ones. You will be responsible for managing a team of skilled professionals, overseeing the entire R&D process and ensuring Sweets from the Earth products meet the highest standards of taste, quality and marketability.

· Lead and inspire a small team of R&D professionals .
· Conceptualize, create, and test new product ideas from initial idea to commercialization.
· Organize and lead production trials and first production runs with cross-functional teams; Quality Assurance, Operations, Purchasing.
· Conduct sensory evaluations and make necessary adjustments.
· Ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory and safety standards.
· Develop and maintain documentation of recipes, formulations, and processes.
· Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and teamwork within the R&D department.
· Stay informed about industry trends, consumer preferences and emerging ingredients to inform product development.
Education and Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in Food Science / Food Engineering / Food Nutrition
· 5+ years’ experience in food manufacturing/product development/ experience in a related role such as Research and Development or Food Scientist. Commercial bakery experience is an asset.
· Experience with plant-based and gluten-free baked goods is an asset
· Experience with leading new products through testing, trialing and commercialization within a high-volume food manufacturing environment
· Exceptional sensory skills
· Strong baking, technical, and food science background
· Resourceful and strong trouble shooting skills.
· Excellent time management and organizational skills
· Working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
· Strong bench work skills with the ability to execute solutions rapidly.
· Self directed individual with initiative, motivation and positive attitude
· Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to represent the company and project team in a professional manner
